28/07/2021 (Agence Europe) – Real household consumption per capita continues to fall in the EU (-1.5%) and in the euro area (-1.6%), according to Eurostat’s figures for the first quarter of 2021 published on Wednesday 28 July. In the previous quarter, household consumption fell by 2.2% in the EU and by 2.6% in the euro area. In the first quarter of 2021, household gross disposable income increased by 2.3% in the EU and by 1.6% in the euro area. Thus, the household saving rate is increasing in the EU, where it rose by 2.5 percentage points (pp), while the increase was 2.1 pp. in the euro area. For more information: https://bit.ly/3f5F4VJ (PH)
