29/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The foreign ministers of the 20 most powerful economies, meeting in Matera (Italy) on Tuesday 29 June, called for multilateralism and cooperation, which Italian Minister Luigi Di Maio described as “fundamental to meeting global challenges” in the post-pandemic period. “The global economy is slowly getting back on track, but we must work together to ensure a sustainable and inclusive recovery along three priority lines: - vaccines; - climate action; - the reduction of inequalities”, stressed the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell. Invited to participate, DRC Minister Christophe Lutundula called for urgent action to support Africa and the capacity of developing countries to produce vaccines themselves. The first G20 Foreign Affairs/Development Ministerial Meeting was held in Matera. It was devoted to food security. (AN)
