The EU continues to coordinate the delivery of vaccines and medicines against Covid-19, in response to requests for assistance from countries in need, through its civil protection mechanism.
On Tuesday 29 June, the European Commission announced that more than 180,000 doses of vaccine, made available by Norway, are being sent to Kosovo.
Similarly, 47,520 doses of the drug Atracurium have been shipped “ in the last few days from Ireland to Brazil”, as to Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič wrote on Twitter the day before, thanking Ireland for its contribution.
The European Commission is financing up to 75% of the transport costs of this aid. In a statement, the institution points out that to date, EU Member States have shared over 2.5 million vaccines doses with third countries via Covax - the global mechanism for universal and equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines piloted by the WHO, GAVI and CEPI - and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
