EU extends steel and aluminium safeguards for 3 years

On Friday 25 June, the European Commission published an implementing regulation extending for 3 years the safeguard measures on steel and aluminium, which were due to expire on 20 June. It follows a request by 12 Member States to carry out an investigation that could establish the need for the continuation of these measures. 

The Commission found that the European steel and aluminium industry still faced a hostile trading environment that justified the extension of safeguard measures....
