23/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission may accept London’s request to extend until the end of September some of the grace periods provided for in the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland, Irish television reported on Wednesday 23 June. A Commission source confirmed that the institution was not opposed to this option, which was submitted last week (see EUROPE 12744/24), but “we now need to discuss it with the UK”. The matter was brought before the ambassadors of the Member States to the EU on the morning of the 23 and they gave their support to the Commission’s decision, an EU Council source said. (SP)
