25/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The annual inflation rate in the eurozone was 1.6% in April 2021, up from 1.3% in March, and that in the European Union was 2.0% in April 2021, up from 1.7% in March, according to data published by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Wednesday, 19 May. The lowest annual rates were observed in Greece (−1.1%), Portugal (−0.1%), and Malta (0.1%). The highest annual rates were recorded in Hungary (5.2%), Poland (5.1%), and Luxembourg (3.3%). Inflation was moderate in Italy (1.0%), within the EU average in France (1.6%), and high in Spain (2.0%) and Germany (2.1%). The highest contribution to the inflation rate came from energy (+0.96 percentage points, or pp), followed by services (+0.37 pp). (MB)
