EU ready to invest €1 billion in vaccines, medicines and access to biotechnology

The EU, its Member States, and European development finance institutions are ready to invest €1 billion to strengthen Africa’s vaccine production capacity against Covid-19 and access to vaccines, medicines, and health technologies, according to the initiative announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the Global Health Summit in Rome on 21 May (see EUROPE B12724A5).
