EU Court of Justice rules on reforms to Romania’s judicial system

The Court of Justice of the European Union ruled on Tuesday 18 May on a series of Romanian judicial reforms (cases C-83, 127, 195, 291, 355, 397/19).

In the context of its EU accession negotiations and in order to improve the independence and efficiency of the judiciary, Romania adopted three laws in 2004 on: - the status of judges and prosecutors; - judicial organisation; - the Superior Council of the Judiciary.
