German Constitutional Court rejects complaint against ‘quantitative easing’

18/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – The German Constitutional Court rejected on Tuesday 18 May two complaints against the ECB’s quantitative easing (PSPP) of public sector securities, ruling that the ECB had demonstrated that the programme was appropriate since the Constitutional Court’s judgment of 5 May 2020, which had questioned the proportionality of PSPP (see EUROPE B12688A21) These claims are “unfounded”, the Karlsruhe Court ruled, as the German government and the Bundestag have...
