29/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 29 April, the European Commission launched an online tool called the ‘EU Atlas of Demography’ providing access to a range of demographic data collected at European, national, regional and local levels. The institution hopes that this tool will make it possible to “improve our understanding of how demographic change is occurring and anticipate demographic dynamics within the Union in order, in particular, to improve the development of certain policies, especially in the fields of health, employment, education and access to services. At European level, this “Atlas of Demography” is expected to feed into three European Commission initiatives: the Green Paper on Ageing (see EUROPE 12645/3), the Long Term Vision for Rural Areas (see EUROPE 12677/25) and the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child (see EUROPE 12685/14).
