28/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – In a debate, on Wednesday 28 April, with local and regional representatives on framework of the Just Transition Platform, the European Commission’s Deputy Director General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), Normunds Poppens, assured that the preparation of the territorial transition plans under the Just Transition Fund was still ongoing, in parallel with the preparation of the national plans linked to the Next Generation EU Recovery Plan. Our services, in cooperation with the Commission’s structural reform services (DG REFORM), are working with some 20 Member States in the preparation of these plans, he said. Mr Poppens added that plans could go beyond the original geographic targets, but that any changes would have to be particularly well documented. (PH)
