28/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament approved (645 votes in favour, 5 against and 49 abstentions) on Tuesday 27 April the text of the agreement between the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the EU on a common mandatory Transparency Register. This agreement establishes a framework and operating principles for “a coordinated approach by the signatory institutions to a transparent and ethical interest representation”. Interest representatives will have to register in order to carry out certain lobbying activities with the three signatory institutions and each institution will put in place additional transparency measures to encourage their registration. In adopting the report by Danuta Hübner (EPP, Poland), the European Parliament stresses that the scope could have been broader as regards the EU Council’s activities and calls for maximum participation (on a voluntary basis) by the Permanent Representations: https://bit.ly/3sZ1yM8 (LC)
