12/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, on Monday 12 April welcomed the publication of the second report of the Investigation and Identification Team to the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) on the same day, which concludes that Syrian Arab Air Force units used chemical weapons in Saraqib on 4 February 2018. In his statement, the High Representative strongly condemns this attack. Recalling that the use of chemical weapons is a violation of international law and could amount to the most serious of international crimes, Mr Borrell called for those identified as responsible for such wrongdoing to be held accountable. “It is now up to the international community to duly consider the reports and take appropriate action”, he said.
