22/02/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 February, the Council of the EU adopted two sets of conclusions on human rights. In the conclusions on ‘human-rights-based post-Covid-19 recovery’ (https://bit.ly/3qMNHbI ), the EU Council considers that a socio-economic response to the crisis centred on human rights will lead to a better and more sustainable recovery. Human rights, democracy and the rule of law will therefore remain at the heart of the EU’s response to the pandemic, the conclusions say, but the EU’s action will also be guided by the Paris agreement on climate change and the sustainable development agenda for 2030. The EU Council also adopted conclusions on the EU’s priorities in UN human rights fora in 2021. (https://bit.ly/37EVArU ). (CG)
