Danish part of Nord Stream 2 pipeline could be completed by end of April

09/02/2021 (Agence Europe)The construction of the controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in Danish waters should be completed by the end of April, the Danish Maritime Authority said on Monday 8 February, according to information published by Reuters. While US sanctions against the companies involved in the project had caused the construction of this gas pipeline to be halted, intended to link Russia to Germany (see EUROPE 12389/29), Russian pipeline fitter Fortuna resumed laying the pipes in Danish waters on 6 February, after tests started on 24 January. According to the Danish authorities, approximately 120 km of pipelines remain to be built to complete the construction of the gas pipeline in its waters (69.2 km for one of the pipelines and 49.6 km for the second). In addition, almost 30 km of pipes in German waters remain to be constructed. (DG)
