EU launches coordinated maritime presence in Gulf of Guinea

On Monday 25 January, the Council of the EU approved conclusions launching the Coordinated Maritime Presence (CMP) concept in the Gulf of Guinea pilot case, recognised as an “Maritime Area of Interest” (MAI)(see EUROPE B12344A15).

The European Foreign Affairs Ministers had agreed in August 2019 to set up the concept of a coordinated maritime presence (see EUROPE B12316A1).
