15/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – Annick Girardin, French Minister for the Sea, and Julien Denormandie, Minister for Agriculture, announced, on Friday 15 January, the launch of a specific measure in favour of aquaculture companies to compensate for their losses linked to the effects of Covid-19. This is an exceptional support provided for in a regulation amending that of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF). This aid is intended for aquaculture enterprises that have suffered a loss of turnover of at least 20%. The aid will compensate 50% of the losses. A public aid floor of €1,500 has been introduced, as well as a ceiling of €300,000. An envelope of €20 million is planned, split between European funds and national counterparts. The EU regulation provides for support measures for fishermen and fish farmers in difficulty due to the coronavirus (see EUROPE 12472/6).
