15/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – The Members of the European Parliament’s ITRE (Industry, Research and Energy) Committee approved, by 69 votes in favour, 18 against and 7 abstentions, on Friday 15 January, the interim agreement resulting from the interinstitutional negotiations on the establishment of the European Defence Fund. An agreement was reached between the institutions on 14 December (see EUROPE 12622/13). While the Members of the EPP, S&D, Renew Europe and ECR groups voted overwhelmingly in favour of the agreement, the Greens/EFA, GUE/NGL and ID MEPs were overwhelmingly opposed. The vote in plenary session could take place in February. (CG)
