European Commission and EUIPO launch €20 million grant fund for SMEs

11/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission and the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) announced on Monday 11 January the launch of €20 million in funding for SMEs entitled ‘Ideas Powered by Business’. This financial assistance will take the form of reimbursement for trade mark and design or model applications, up to a maximum amount of €1,500 per company. Five windows will be open for applications in 2021. All SMEs meeting the European definition of SMEs will be able to participate. This funding is part of the Intellectual Property Action Plan presented last November (see EUROPE 12609/11) and aims to help SMEs develop their intellectual property strategies and protect their related rights.
