11/01/2021 (Agence Europe) – The annual inflation rate in the euro area is estimated at -0.3% in December 2020, stable in relation to November, according to a flash estimate published by the European Union's statistical office (Eurostat) on Thursday 7 January. According to the estimates available for the Nineteen except Austria, the lowest rates were observed in Greece (-2.4%) and Slovenia (-1.2%), while the highest rates were observed in Slovakia (1.6%) and the Netherlands (0.9%). In Germany, estimated inflation was particularly low (-0.7%), as well as in Spain (-0.6%) and Italy (-0.3%). It was zero in France. As regards the main components of inflation, the food, alcohol & tobacco sector is expected to have the highest annual rate (1.4%), followed by services (0.7%), non-energy industrial goods (-0.5%) and energy (-6.9%).
