17/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced, on Thursday 17 December, that he was going into isolation after being informed that the French President, Emmanuel Macron, had tested positive for Covid-19. Mr Michel, who met with Mr Macron on Monday, 14 December at the Élysée Palace, is not considered a contact case and tested negative on Tuesday. According to the French authorities, Mr Macron became a person at risk in the evening of Monday 14 December. Since the European Summit on 10 and 11 December, the European Council has not been informed of any participant testing positive for coronavirus. At the European Commission, spokesman Eric Mamer said that the President of the institution, Ursula von der Leyen, did not intend to self-isolate. She had dinner with Mr Macron on Sunday, 13 December in Paris. (MB)
