15/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – Businessman and close associate of Russian President Vladmir Putin, Yevgeny Prigozhin—who was sanctioned by the EU on 15 October for having participated in violations of the arms embargo imposed on Libya (see EUROPE 12582/32)—filed a lawsuit last week before the General Court to request “his exclusion from the sanctions list concerning Libya”, his company, Concord, indicated on Tuesday, 15 December, as quoted by AFP. “The plaintiff does not possess information about the existence of an organisation named ‘Wagner Group’, did not and does not have any connections to or relations with it, including financial”, Concord explained. According to the EU, Mr Prigozhin has close ties, including financial links, to this private military company that is allegedly involved in “multiple and repeated breaches of the arms embargo” imposed on Libya.
