08/12/2020 (Agence Europe) – The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced, on Monday 7 December, that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will attend the meeting of the College of Commissioners on Tuesday 15 December. This will be the first time ever that a Secretary General of the Alliance will participate in the College. According to Commission spokesman Eric Mamer, discussions between Mr Stoltenberg and the Commissioners are expected to focus on cooperation between the two organisations, particularly in terms of resilience - whether in terms of cybersecurity, infrastructure or disinformation, the challenges posed by the G5 - and defence. The EU and NATO have agreed to work together on 74 areas of common interest. In a report published on 1 December, NATO's Group of Experts called for improving the content of cooperation between the Alliance and the Union (see EUROPE 12613/22). (CG)
