12/11/2020 (Agence Europe) – Negotiations on the future relationship between the EU and the UK will continue this weekend in London as well as next week in Brussels, said the European Commission on Thursday 12 November. Press reports of 11 November reported that an agreement between the two partners would not be reached this week. However, the Commission did not want to say whether movements of staff linked to Boris Johnson had an influence on these talks. The British Prime Minister's Director of Communications, Lee Cain, resigned on 11 November with the British media reporting rumours about the fate of the British negotiator on the future relationship, David Frost. Michel Barnier, the EU negotiator, might take part in the ‘General Affairs’ Council to be held on 17 November in order to take stock of the situation, but this has yet to be confirmed. (SP)
