In order to stimulate investment in Africa and the EU neighbourhood to address Covid-19, the European Commission concluded on Thursday 12 November several financial guarantee agreements worth €990 million with partner financial institutions.
In total, these guarantees are expected to generate up to €10 billion of investment.
These guarantees are: the European Health Platform (€438 million), which focuses on Africa, the InclusiFi (€60 million), to help local businessmen in sub-Saharan Africa and the EU neighbourhood, and the AgreenFi (€160 million), which targets small businesses in sub-Saharan Africa and the EU neighbourhood.
There is also the Renewable Energy Support Programme for the predominantly rural regions of sub-Saharan Africa (€20 million), the European Guarantee for Renewable Energy (€62 million), the EU Market Creation Facility (€150 million), the Municipal, Infrastructure and Industrial Resilience Programme (€100 million).
These guarantees are part of the EU’s external investment plan.
