06/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Builders Confederation, which represents SMEs in the construction sector, called on Tuesday 6 October for action to better implement the directive (2014/24/EU) governing the award of traditional public procurement contracts, in order to support the sector, which has been impacted hard by coronavirus. Production is at its lowest level since 1995, according to the organisation. Public procurement is indeed a huge market (1.9 trillion euros per year), but it remains difficult for SMEs to access it, despite the Directive being in place. The organisation has therefore published a series of recommendations (redefinition of the award criteria, division of public procurement contracts into lots, lower administrative burden, etc.) which can be consulted here: https://bit.ly/3d1WSPp (PH)
