Sweden’s Magdalena Andersson, EU candidate for IMFC chairperson

06/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The EU finance ministers decided on Tuesday 6 October to support the candidacy of their Swedish counterpart, Magdalena Andersson, for the chairmanship of the IMFC, the steering committee that advises the IMF’s Executive Board on financial system supervision. In accordance with the decision of the Eurogroup the day before (see EUROPE 12574/5), the ECOFIN Council will also recommend to the European Council to appoint the Dutchman Frank Elderson as a member of the Executive Board of the ECB, a position which will be filled by the Luxembourger Yves Mersch in mid-December.
