06/10/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Conference of Presidents of the Political Groups (CoP) of the European Parliament decided on Tuesday 6 October not to request any further action and to close the hearings for the Commissioner-designate for Financial Services, Mairead McGuinness (see EUROPE 12573/6) and Executive Vice-President, Valdis Dombrovskis, who is proposed to take over the external trade portfolio (see EUROPE 12573/7). The CoP made its final decision on the basis of positive recommendations from the European Parliament’s Economic Affairs Committee (ECON) and Committee on International Trade (INTA), which heard from candidates last week. The European Parliament, who will meet in plenary session, will therefore be able to vote as scheduled on Wednesday 7 October at 10.30 a.m. on their appointments to the European Commission. (MF)
