21/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – A public consultation is open until 2 November (midnight) on the roadmap for a proposal for a directive on sustainable products, in line with the ‘European Green Deal’ and the sustainable products policy it provides for, under the EU's Second Action Plan for the Circular Economy. The initiative is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021. It will set out the EU policy framework needed to ensure the placing of more sustainable products on the market by reviewing the scope of the Ecodesign Directive to extend it to the widest possible range of products, beyond energy products, and propose further legislative measures if necessary. The initiative will also tackle harmful chemicals in products such as electronic and ICT equipment, textiles, furniture, steel, cement and chemicals. (AN)
