21/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – “Has the European Central Bank used up all its reserves? No, absolutely not”, said its president, Christine Lagarde, on Monday 21 September during an online hearing before the Franco-German parliamentary assembly. She said that the Frankfurt Monetary Institute is carefully analysing any new information it receives, “including regarding the exchange rate”, as the euro has risen against the dollar. According to France Télécom, a review is under way among euro area central bank governors regarding the advisability of extending the PEPP operation of massive asset repurchase, which was launched in response to the pandemic (see EUROPE 12499/1) and of making other asset repurchase operations as flexible as PEPP.
