04/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – A public consultation launched on 3 September by the European Commission is open until midnight on 1 October, on a draft implementing regulation on the renewal of authorisations of the active substances in pesticides in the EU. This draft Commission Regulation aims to adapt the renewal procedure provided for in the ‘Pesticides’ Regulation (1107/2009) to the Parliament and EU Council Regulation on the increased transparency and durability of risk assessments in the food chain carried out by EFSA (see EUROPE 12274/36). The Regulation introduces new rules on advice to applicants for authorisations, studies commissioned by industry, public consultations on scientific studies, disclosure of applications and scientific studies/data, and EFSA's assessment of confidentiality requests. The adoption of the implementing regulation is scheduled for the third quarter of 2020. (AN)
