04/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament’s governing bodies had not officially confirmed that the September plenary session will be held in Strasbourg (see EUROPE 12548/10) by the time we went to press on Friday 4 September. “We are waiting to hear the assessment of the French authorities on the health situation in Strasbourg and to receive the necessary guarantees for the safe travel of the European Parliament”, said Parliament President David Sassoli on Twitter on Thursday evening. Rallying support for the plenary session to take place in Strasbourg. Jeanne Barseghian, the city’s mayor confirmed on Thursday evening that all local players are “capable of guaranteeing optimal health safety conditions, in close cooperation with the Regional Health Agency”. On Thursday, this agency indicated that the change in the incidence rate (number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants over seven days) in Strasbourg had exceeded the alert threshold. (MB)
