04/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The year 2021 will definitely be marked by a renewal of the management of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). After having launched steps in July to recruit a new President (see EUROPE 12529/30), on Friday 4 September ESMA launched the recruitment procedure for its next Executive Director by publishing a vacancy notice. Verena Ross, the current Executive Director, has reached the maximum number of years allowed by ESMA's regulations, namely ten years, and will leave her position on 29 May 29 2021. The Board of Supervisors of ESMA will be responsible for appointing her successor, after approval by the European Parliament. The new Executive Director is expected to take office on 1 May 2021.
