04/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – More than 640 people have been relocated from Greece to Belgium, France, Germany, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg and Portugal as part of a programme organised by the European Commission and the Greek Special Secretary for Unaccompanied Minors, the European institution said on Thursday 3 September as calls for action on behalf of migrants held in Greek camps grew (see EUROPE 12552/34). Further transfers are also in preparation for Lithuania, Slovenia, Finland, France, Germany and Portugal. The - voluntary - programme launched by the Commission in March aims to bring relief to Greece by relocating at least 1200 unaccompanied minors in the EU. To date, eleven Member States and Norway are participating in the initiative: Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Croatia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Portugal, Luxembourg, Lithuania and Slovenia. (SP)
