03/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – A regulation published on Thursday 3 September in the Official Journal of the EU addresses the rule that when a Member State has exceeded the fishing quotas allocated to it, the European Commission makes deductions from the Member State’s future fishing quotas. The Commission makes these deductions by applying ‘multiplier coefficients’. Some Member States (Germany, Denmark, Spain, France, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, etc.) have exceeded their 2019 fishing quotas. “It is therefore necessary to make deductions from the fishing quotas allocated to them for 2020 and, where appropriate, for the following years, in respect of overexploited stocks”, the text, which contains a table, states: https://bit.ly/2F1EGIM (LC)
