03/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – The German Presidency of the Council of the European Union intends to establish a uniform Europe-wide payment system for charging electric and fuel cell (hydrogen) vehicles, stressed the German Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Andreas Scheuer, on Thursday 3 September, at a virtual conference on the development of electric road transport. According to Berlin, in addition to a well-developed cross-border recharging network, transitioning consumers to electric mobility requires simple and fast recharging methods, price transparency and harmonised payment systems. To this end, Mr Scheuer will submit recommendations to the European Commission for the next revision of the Directive (2014/94) on the deployment of infrastructure for alternative fuels. (DG)
