03/09/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 3 September, the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) published a report on Venezuela to help EU asylum officials deal with the “dramatic” increase in applications from Venezuelan nationals, it said in a statement. “The deterioration of the political, security and economic situation in Venezuela has led to the mass emigration of four million people since 2015, including over 100,000 who have sought asylum in the EU. Asylum applications from Venezuelan nationals in the EU (and the associated Schengen countries) have risen from 105 in 2013 to 45,675 in 2019; an increase of over 43,000%”, says EASO. By 2019, Venezuela had become the third largest asylum-seekers' country of origin in the EU, after Syria and Afghanistan. View the report: https://bit.ly/3jCFHWs (SP)
