31/08/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 28 August, the European Commission presented a delegated act amending delegated Regulation 2019/2238 regarding high survivability and de minimis exemptions applicable to certain demersal fisheries in the North Sea. On 29 May 2019, the relevant countries submitted a joint recommendation to the Commission on how to implement the landing obligation for demersal fisheries in the North Sea. In particular, the exemption for Norway lobster caught using bottom trawls – with a cod-end with a mesh size of at least 70 mm and equipped with a selection grid – should be granted by 31 December 2021. The European Commission also presented a delegated act establishing a 'discard plan' for certain pelagic species in South-Western waters. (LC)
