European Commission proposes €6.2 billion increase in 2020 budget to tackle Covid-19

On Friday 28 August, the European Commission adopted a Draft Amending Budget (no. 8) for 2020 to provide €6.2 billion to counteract the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the European Union.

This Draft Amending Budget, which still needs to be adopted by the Council of the EU and the European Parliament, includes a €1.09 billion enhancement in order to accommodate the additional requirements in payment appropriations for the Emergency Support Instrument to fund the Covid-19...
