31/08/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, congratulated, on Monday 31 August, North Macedonia on the formation of its government. Like Enlargement Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, Mr Borrell said he looked forward to working with the new government on EU-related reforms and common priorities. Commission spokesperson Ana Pisonero highlighted reforms in the field of the rule of law, the fight against organised crime and corruption and good neighbourly relations. “It is important that all forces in society work together to achieve this goal, given the progress made on the path towards the EU”, stressed Mr Várhelyi. Former Foreign Minister Nikola Dimotrov becomes Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs, replacing Bujar Osmani, who becomes Foreign Minister. (CG)
