Delegated acts on detailed rules for obligation to land all catches

On 21 August, the European Commission presented several delegated acts to provide for special rules or derogations pertaining to the regulation prohibiting discards taking place at sea.

An initial text sets out the arrangements for implementing the landing obligation in certain fisheries in western waters for the period 2021-2023.

Another specifies the same arrangements for fishing operations in the North Sea over the 2021-2023 period. Another delegated act allows for a derogation on the minimum reference size for conservation of mollusc bivalve (Venus spp.) clams in certain Italian territorial waters to be extended until the end of 2022.

Finally, the last text concerns technical measures (including minimum landing sizes for lobster, cod or sea bass) applicable to certain demersal and pelagic fisheries in the North Sea and the Southern Western waters.

If the EU Council and the European Parliament do not oppose the draft delegated acts, they will enter into force as presented. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
