17/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – A public consultation is open until 9 September on the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) draft guidance on the technical requirements for determining whether small particles - including nanoparticles - are present in regulated food and feed products. This draft guide is intended for companies applying for a marketing authorisation. It defines the information requirements and criteria for assessing the presence of these TR particles. These technical requirements apply to particles requiring specific assessment at the nanoscale in conventional materials that do not meet the definition of engineered nanomaterial as set out in the Novel Food Regulation (EU) 2015/2283. This draft Guidance will complement the ‘Guidance on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology’ adopted by the EFSA Scientific Committee in 2018. (AN)
