The European Commission welcomed, on Friday 17 July, the final Assessment List for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed by the independent high-level expert group on AI (see EUROPE 12283/8).
Through an online application, this list puts into practice the ethics guidelines developed in April 2019. It will serve as an ethics checklist for companies and organisations to self-assess their adherence to the guidelines.
Commission Vice-President Margrethe Vestager praised, in a statement, “the hard work” of independent experts who provided “us with the right concepts and tools to help us in our European approach towards Trustworthy AI”.
On the same day, the European institution published the results of its public consultation in this area, which received “more than 1,200 contributions”, according to Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton.
