17/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The EU announced, on Friday 17 July, a €10.4 million programme to promote digital solutions to fight the coronavirus pandemic and to improve the resilience of health and education systems in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda and Burundi. These digital solutions will enable, for example, e-learning and technical and vocational training, as well as monitoring and surveillance to improve the quality and efficiency of health systems. This programme will be extended at a later stage to other countries across Africa and the Indian Ocean. “Moreover, the EU and its Member States established a platform called the ‘Digital for Development (D4D) Hub’” said the Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen. These include five development agencies and partners from the Member States: GIZ, ENABEL, AFD, LuxDev and the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (AN)
