17/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – Reminding Armenia and Azerbaijan “that facilitating peace is a commitment they took on when they became members of the Council of Europe”, three co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe asked them in a joint statement to “de-escalate the situation and to refrain from inflammatory rhetoric” in the context of their cross-border confrontation. Specifically, Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland, Socialist Party), Rapporteur for Armenia, as well as Stefan Schennach (Austria, Socialist Party) and Sir Roger Gale (United Kingdom, Conservative), co-rapporteurs for Azerbaijan, urged for the resumption of peace talks under the framework of the Minsk Group of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the return of OSCE observers to the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
