10/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament approved (557 votes in favour, 72 against and 59 abstentions), on Friday 10 July, the draft amending budget (No 5 for 2020) providing €485 million to continue emergency humanitarian aid for refugees in Turkey and €100 million to support refugees and host communities in Jordan and Lebanon (see EUROPE 12514/3). The Commission proposes to mobilise the 'contingency margin' of €481.6 million, by offsetting against the margins available in 2020 under headings 5 'Administration' (€16.2 million) and 2 'Natural resources' (€465.3 million). François-Xavier Bellamy (EPP, France) and Anne Sander (EPP, France) voted against this amending budget, which mobilises part of the contingency margin in the agriculture budget to allocate it to emergency humanitarian aid for refugees in Turkey.
