10/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 10 July, the European Parliament adopted, by a large majority (548 votes for and 100 against, with 40 abstentions), the motion for a resolution on the revision of the guidelines for trans-European energy infrastructure (see EUROPE 12428/8). The resolution was tabled by Cristian-Silviu Buşoi (EPP, Romania) on behalf of the European Parliament Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), and calls on the European Commission to come forward with a proposal, by the end of 2020 at the latest, for a revision of the TEN-E Regulation (347/2013) “that takes account, in particular, of the Union’s energy and climate targets for 2030, the Union’s long-term decarbonisation commitment, and the energy efficiency first principle”. In particular, they call on the Commission to propose transitional guidance to ensure that projects for the fifth PCI (project of common interest) list are in line with EU climate commitments.
