01/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Renew Europe group in the European Parliament wants the European Parliament to adopt a resolution on the Venezuelan crisis next week. This would be in response to the latest political developments, after the EU decided to sanction eleven new senior figures of the Maduro regime (see EUROPE 12517/4), as well as the international conference that raised more than 2.5 billion euros for Venezuelan refugees and migrants (see EUROPE 12493/24). Spanish liberal Jordi Cañas called on the EU and the Member States in a statement on Wednesday 1 July to consider the representatives of Juan Guaidó, the President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, who has proclaimed himself President of Venezuela, as the country's only legitimate interlocutors.
