01/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched, on Wednesday 1 July, a public consultation on its strategy to develop a "sector for intelligent transport and durables" (see EUROPE 12430/12), expected by the end of 2020. The institution indicates that it wants to take into consideration the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector and specifies that the questionnaire submitted to citizens and stakeholders "also covers the way in which the current framework defined in the 2011 White Paper has made it possible to achieve the objectives set so far". The aim of this strategy, said Transport Commissioner Adina Vălean on Wednesday, is to "create a crisis-proof transport system for us and for future generations" and to "rebuild on this basis a structure adapted to environmental and digital challenges".
