25/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – An error has crept into our article dated 23 June on the compromise proposal to the EU Council on the proposal for a directive amending Directive 92/83/EEC harmonising the structures of excise duties on alcohol and alcoholic beverages (see EUROPE 12512/12). Contrary to what we had indicated, the agreement provides that Member States may not apply reduced rates of excise duty to undertakings producing on average over 1000 hectolitres of wine per year and, in the specific case of Malta, on average over 20,000 hectolitres of wine per year. The online version of the bulletin has been corrected accordingly. We apologise for the mistake. (MF)
